Managed Services
Managed or Unmanaged - that is the question. The answer really depends on you. If your company has a full-time IT staff, why would you pay your hosting company to manage your server when your IT staff is doing all the work? On the other hand, perhaps you need a lights-out, fully-managed hosting solution that allows you to concentrate on your business rather than worry about your hosting service. Whatever your particular situation is, Versaweb's Dedicated Servers offer flexible management options so that you can tailor the level of services provided to best suit your needs.Unmanaged Servers
Versaweb Dedicated Servers are unmanaged by default. This means that once we set up your server and install the OS and any control panel you request, we will hand the server over to you for management. From that point forward, you or your staff is fully responsible for all aspects of managing and maintaining your server. On unmanaged servers, our tech staff is still available to assist you with the following:
- Manual Server Reboots
- Remote Hands (up to 10 min)
- Control Panel Support Referrals
- Free 5-minute ping monitoring
- KVM over IP rental available
If you find that you require the assistance of our tech staff, we are available for you at any time. You can either add a managed service plan to your server, purchase from our Tech Services menu below, or you can purchase admin time on an hourly basis for $60 per hour in 1/2 hour increments. Please note that our tech staff will not log in to an unmanaged server unless you add a management plan to your account or agree to hourly billing for any work performed.
Managed Servers
By adding one of our AMP management plans, you have 24x7 access to our tech staff to perform any tasks you require. We offer 2 levels of managed services - AMP-1 (semi-managed) and AMP-2 (fully managed).
AMP-1 (semi-managed plan) includes:
- 2 Hours of admin time per month
- Initial server setup and hardening
- Sofware firewall install/configuration
- OS / Kernel updates upon request
- Ping monitor with email notification
- Discounts on additional admin time
AMP-2 (fully-managed plan) includes all of the features above, plus:
- Fully managed server monitoring
- Reactive service restarts and reboots
- Hands-off solution - we handle everything!
Our AMP-1 semi-managed plan is only $50 per month, or upgrade to our AMP-2 fully-manged plan for only $150 per month.
Additional Tech Services
If you find yourself in need of some assitance but don't feel like you need a monthly managment plan, our per-incident or per-hour services may be just what you need. Most common requeests are priced as a flat fee, while more complex requests are typically billed on an hourly basis.
